Sam Roffey

I’m Sam. I’m a personal tutor and commission portrait artist. I have a degree in philosophy, although my academic application was horrendous!

I began Portrait painting in 2015, aged 30 - after dropping art at school when I was 14. I’ve written a couple of unpublished books and have a few more started but unfinished at the moment. I like history, classic literature and reading about quantum physics. I’m a collector of useless facts, such as winners and winning times of athletics events, scores in football matches and the order of US presidents and British monarchs. I also like writing poetry, particularly my collection of poems about the secret lives of pigeons and how their trials and tribulation mirror humans interactions, desires and disappointments.

I have a Boxer dog, Martha, who is my pride and joy, and my other hobbies include tennis, clay pigeon shooting (ironically), re-watching every episode of Frasier and hosting a show on a very small, very local radio station called Swan Radio.

I started making YouTube parodies because I wrote a book, a few years back, called Split! The West at War with Itself. Couldn’t get it published. Despite luckily signing with a tenacious agent who loved the book, and who got it to all the major publishing houses, they all rejected it for the precise reason: Sam hasn’t got a profile. Nobody knew who I was.

I’m attempting to rectify that now, with parodies that are built on philosophical foundations, but always aim to entertain.

Thank you to everyone who has sent me, and continues to send me, kind message of support.
